I don't get it, specially when Shadow Ball reduces Special Defense. Like, Dark should've been physical and Ghost special. That has to have been a mistake

all i can assume is it's because houndoom learns crunch
meaning it would get stab fire and dark, both special types in gen 2

It learns slash, yes? Its claws were clearly its defining trait and all the claw moves at that point were physical if I recall. Just run without a stab move. It's really not that difficult.
