Seriously, wouldn't they just want normal trainers? Not, "haha jk, unless..." trainers who're waiting for them to return their feelings, and who'll be cold when they don't. Actual trainers who just want a strong pokemon who can fight, perform, and possibly act as an emotional aide. Maybe play cards, maybe have memorize neat facts or gather information. There are plenty of things you can do with a Gardevoir, but it always comes back to "Muh perfect waifu, dancing in the wheat fields, wearing my clothes, and being the best daughter-wife ever".
