I try VGC every year because people always make it out to be so good, but I really do not like the fact I either have to use a copy paste team that has weather, TR, a combination of both as well as this generation's new boner for Follow Me or I have to do specific stat calcs for every Pokémon I put on a team because they're offmeta and evidently inheretly flawed compared to others.
I mean the devs clearly put a lot of time and thought into what you can use in battle, even if half of the strategy in doubles is hitting your own teammate with a move but a lot of these things just aren't viable compared to a lot of other things you see with usage.
Singles is even worse because you pretty much are playing type matchup switching with trying to reveal the least about your team every turn or you are playing pick a dick with an elaborate strategy. In game battles that are hard make player battles look so much fun. At least battling is fun with friends who just want to play the game and try different things. I just had a level 1 only battle with friends last week.
