To Scyther fans it literally is because they are under the impression that Scizor "ruined" Scyther. How exactly I will never understand given that Scyther has access to Eviolite because of Scizor. My guess is they are just mad as fuck that Scyther has always been trash competitively and Scizor has been a god in competitive for most of its existence.

While this is true, people hate being told the pokémon they really like are shite because meta or whatever arbitrary reasons (eg: t-tarfags being unable to cope with t-tar not being OU any more).

Genwunner isn't an applicable term in this scenario because genwunners blatantly accept gen 2. The term "genwunner" is a simplification because of the focus on the original 150, but basically any genwunner you ask will also approve of gen 2 because they still liked pokemon when gold/silver was coming out. If your genwunner assertion was true you'd also see at least some hate for Crobat, Porygon2, and Steelix. Scizor hate is a result of Scyther's existing popularity combined with the fact that Scizor itself doesn't expand on or carry on very many of the design attributes that people liked about Scyther.
