Gave us Greninja and Aegislash, and has nice legendaries. Also introduced mega forms, fairies, and the new Exp system. Gave new forms to Kyogre and Groudon, two of my favorites.

Wild area is seriously a nice invention, feels like Safari Zone++. Feels like a promising preview of what a Pokemon MMORPG could be but that's wishful thinking.

the bugs are actually fun to mess around with. toxic and leech seed is so busted and perma-crit moves like slash and razor leaf are fun as shit. also obligatory "it got the series started" or whatever. the horny fuck in me likes that sabrina has a whip, i wish she kept that.

great music and general aesthetic along with some of the best move animations in the series. the issues are mostly with gameplay and those are easily fixed by romhacks which is nice.
>gen 6
very nice early game mon variety. also gave my boy beedrill a cool ass mega.
>gen 7
they went fucking nuts on the waifus and pykumuku is the best mon added in years.
>gen 8
bea's abs and melony's tits.

Has the best route one evolution lines in recent years. I like the focus on competativeness. All the first evos of the starters are unironically really cute. Best looking mainline pokemon game imo. Heavy duty boots is a god send. Following pokemon is really nice. No need for hms still.
Finally gave us a non legendary pure flying type. The human character animations are really good.

It felt like a rehash of RSE, I didn't like a lot of the new designs, barry was irritating, didn't like the weird 2D/3D thing, too many legendaries, obligatory S L O W.

-It gave me a few of my favorite mons, being Ribombee, Minior, and the Rowlet line. I also really like Tsareena, Fomantis, and Lycanroc.
-Skull was kinda funny and entertaining the first time through
-Regional forms are one of the best features added in the last few generations
-slightly better battle difficulty than XY and had a regional Pokedex with slightly more identity than XY while retaining a large number of mons
