This. Pokémon is both too big to fail and has too big a lock on the pre-teen child audience that it will ALWAYS have an audience, regardless of who else in their teens and adulthood buys in. That these same kids are also the driving force for merch sales cements this. Anyonne seriously thinking an "adlut" friendly Pokémon clone will actually succed to turn itself into a series is smoking crack, because despite the spergs here crying about wanting a "proper" JRPG pokémon game, most the adult players today in the world in general really don't give a shit for it. At most, all any these clones can hope for is niche sales due to doing some aspect of the genre better than everyone else (and I include pokémon in that).
