I don't get the appeal of Nuzlocke, if you want extra challenge why not just use NFEs or shitmons?

It's not just a challenge. You also get more emotionally attached to your mons because they might die and only being able to catch the first encounter on each route means that you can't choose what you get and have a chance to grow to like mons you would've overlooked.

That's what I do. My first team in Ultra Sun were baby mons or 1st stage. I think the only fully evolved I had on the team was Delcatty. Lemme tell you though, Z-assist pulled my ass out the fire so many times

>Z-assist copies my Zeraora's fire punch

If you always need items to carry you then that says more about you than others, given plenty of my mons everstone and no issues. I know it pains you, but I dont need leftovers and heavy duty boots on every fucking mon.

My last challenge run was a nuzlocke combined with no pokemon being allowed to have a BST over 450 (so if it'd evolve to do so you had to keep it unevolved) and it was good fun honestly.

In the past games I inject items so 999 everstones comes with the deal, or I just recycle them if I dont have enough if one of my unevolves reaches 100. Like in Swsh I have 6, and that's enough

I love randomized nuzlockes because of the challenge. Not knowing what pokemon will be available to you and what you're going to face makes team building fun. I also put a level cap rule where before the first badge any pokemon over 15 cant be used and it raises 5 levels for each badge.
