Sup /vp/

I wanna backup my Soul Silver file to my computer and open it up on emu. What would be the cheapest/easiest options to do that?

Flash carts? 3ds CFW?

Anybody have experience with this sort of thing?

I have back up my games by hacking my new 3ds and installing checkpoint.

I used this: https://3ds.hacks.guide/
I consider myself pretty bad with those kind of things, but the guide is pretty easy to understand. (I did screw up something, but I just deleted everything I have installed and started from scratch and it worked).
Should not cost you anything more than maybe a micro SD with more GBs and a micro SD adapter if you don't have one.

What file type does that save the save files as? .cia?

>Open the SD card on your computer and go to 3ds/checkpoint/saves/soulsilver/ folder
>There will be a file called main in it, copy main to your computer.
>You can open it in PKHex. There shouldnt be a problem if you just rename main to soulsilver.sav. it will work on emulators and flash cards.

Happy to hear! Some more thing you can do now: have back up of all your games, and keep it somewhere so you will never lose all your pokemon. And you can also use pkhex to transfer pokemon from gen 1-2 if you happened to play those game via an emulator.
