pokemon is going to go thru the same phase. expect bulk of the content to be made for pokemon mansters and the MOBA game, you know, things people actually play, with a few paid DLCs(read: things they cut out of the game at the last minute) released semi regularly for maybe another year, and only then they will announce "super sword and shield" which will just be the previous games with all DLCs included, plus a few extras(and it's own set of paid DLCs on top of that)
free to play multiplayer experiences with microtransactions are the future, expect single player experiences to be cut up and sold for later, at a price, and what you get to be heavily watered down, that's just how things are
