Ah, I see. Yeah Aging ≠ Evolution. Like who knows how old Pikachu was before he evolved. And even in the video games this is the same. You could capture a Pidgey and just keep it in your party for 10 years and never give it a single bit of exp, it doesn't suddenly evolve because its 10+ years old.

not all pokemon are combatants anon, it's not impossible for a pokemon that does not fight to grow old, and a pokemon smart enough to grow old without fighting would obviously become a leader in any community where those values are sought after.
