I really like the idea that Garchomp is supposed to be a land-shark dragon. I hate how all of his pokedex entries talk about flying at supersonic speeds when he can't even learn fly

He also should have been pure dragon type instead of dragon/ground

It is a LAND shark. Garchomp’s color scheme is pretty much the opposite of camouflage in its environment.

Sharpedo also has some interesting history.
It appeared in an early demo at a low level and without an ability.
Judging by its appearance in the intro, Sharpedo may have been one of the earliest Gen 3 pokemon with a finalized design, may have even been intended to be a single stager.
