you might get flack for this from someone else but i always thought having your own little NFE to train throughout the region could be a fun gimmick. It also helps that Cyndaquil is my number 1 favorite starter.

Hitmonchan is my favorite pokémon of all time and he completely demolished clair’s dragonairs. Gives me hope for lance.

Currently emulating HG vecause I've never actually finished a Johto game. Not sure what ny team will be yet. I'm planning to get some of the stronger Johto pokemon like Heracross and Tyranitar. The biggest issues right now are my fire and water types, as most Johto fire types share STAB with Tyranitar, and most good water types need a stone to evolve.

I considered Lanturn. I've already used Azumarill before, and Quagsire shares Ground with Nidoqueen, which I plan to use. Same for Sailfish and Poison. Currently my plan is either Lanturn or Starmie.

Probably Ice Beam. A lot of pokemon could use Earthquake better than Blastoise. Also Ice moves are always useful.

You can catch Growlithe in HG, pre elite 4. You can run a lot of fun movesets on it, too:

>Flamethrower / Solarbeam / Dragon Pulse / Sunny Day
>Overheat / Thunder Fang / Extremespeed / Will-o-wisp
>Flare Blitz / Crunch / Howl / Morning Sun - if you don't mind breeding egg moves

If you wanted a Johto fire type that doesn't overlap with t-tar though, you're stuck with Cyndaquil / Magby, or a legendary.

What >>4444671 said. I can't use Typhlosion because I chose Chikorita, and both of those share types with another team member. The other options from Johto are Entei and Ho-oh, which are legendaries. I may just end up not having a Fire type at all.

Slowbro is a great option. You can make it through without having a stone to evolve a water type. You won't be able to fully evolve Tyranitar until after Hall of Fame either anyways. You could do what I did and teach extremespeed Dratini surf.

I think the 6th will be a Normal type, maybe Girafarig since Psychic is nice.

Bump for sceptile moveset suggestions. Right now it has leaf blade, pursuit, fury cutter, quick attack (only really used him for leaf blade up till this point so never bothered with his moveset)

Hm, what would you swap out for them? What would you swap out for just Crabominable? Everything there resists / is neutral to an Ice weakness, aside from Abomasnow, and he's my mega. I'm playing a difficulty mod (Penumbra Moon) and I don't want fewer than three pokemon with Snow Warning and two with Aurora Veil.
