All item clause really does is make team building more complex, which isn't necessarily a bad thing... but it's not the format Showdown runs, for whatever reason. Does it matter beyond that? Play Battle Spot or VGC if you want item clause. If you don't like the Showdown ruleset, why play it?

Plus, implementing something like item clause on a basis of Pokemon being removed is a rash decision when a lot more Pokemon will be added in the fall.
>>44445797Yes, meaning that boots are relevant because rocks are relevant. They're only strong as long as rocks are strong as well. If your playstyle isn't reliant on rocks, boots don't even matter to you, if they are a big problem for your team then you can adjust said team to not NEED hazard damage or you can run counterplay to boots like knock off.
