>>44446081The issue isn't that it's turn based, the issue is that it's very clunky and slow. No fast-forward feature or way to skip animations in the battle itself, text constantly breaking up the flow of battle, an overly orderly approach to how battles are done (click attack, text, watch attack, text, HP goes down, text, next attack begins, text - and holy shit don't get me started on multihit moves), it feels very dated and something that hasn't improved much since the Gameboy games. The last really big impact in the games was the physical special split, fucking 14 years ago.
The attempt at generational gimmicks that add up to nothing more than nukes instead of diversifying or adding to actually unique things like weather/terrains/status/the 'room' moves is the cherry on the shit cake.
