Item clause would be a roundabout way of limiting boots while not outright banning them.
It'd be like banning Mewtwo from using boosting moves and STAB so it can be legal in OU.

That’s the point of the thread, dude. The sneaky pebbles advocates kept saying “just defog bro lmao”, and now they’re upset the moth can overcome their over-reliant spam by just wearing a pair of timbs.

Although... the main issue here is the 252 HP/ 252 Def fatmon stallers who use the boots, the moth is part of the healthy meta.

"just knock off" is pretty different from "just defog" because a mon wearing boots doesn't need to stay in and take the knock off.
defog always works unless something explodes/mementos/dies to rocks the same turn.

What?! This is a complex ban affecting one Pokemon, as opposed to a rule affecting every Pokemon and item that's already used in VGC.

The Issue is the lack of Heatran to work as a direct switch in counter.

Because Volcarona can basically switch in on any hazards and setup, it's almost impossible to have a mon with the resistances to overcome Giga Drain or it's STAB moves.

Even then I can't think of many mons that can abuse HP Rock to force Volcarona out. Honestly, Item clause would fix everything wrong with both Volcarona and a ton mons like Stallmons abusing boots or leftover spam in general.

I can't find a single argument against Item clause.

Considering team viewer exists, and Lycanroc is an extremely predictable switch in, You're at best hoping for a check to switch out Volcarona

Meanwhile

So even if You get a favourable switch in, You're losing half your HP to the Volcarona on the switch depending on it's setup.
