losing her husband in the ultra wormhole drove her crazy so she became obsessed with carrying out their work, driving her own children away, and becoming so obsessed with preservation of what she loves that she encased her own pokemon in ice.
Ultra S/M story is entirely different, where she isn't batshit insane/mentally ill from the traumatic experience.
