The myths come from the birds being migratory, appearing with the seasons around the globe. In a way, this implies they actually aren't Kanto native, as they appear in many other regions depending on the season just like there.
Kanto would have no real "legends" of its own aside from Mew, but I'd retcon-give them the Kami Trio bc it fits. Same for the Musketdeer Quartet in regards to Kalos.
