I dont understand why they decided to give Rillaboom and Cinderace ridiculously overpowered abilities that have nothing to do with their designs but they give Inteleon a niche ability that does fit his gimmick.

I was on team Grookey since the beginning but yeah it really doesn't make sense with Grassy Surge. Soundproof would've fit better, or Punk Rock, switching its offensive stats of course. I despise Intelleon but I also feel bad for it

Grass gets fuck all most of the time. Cinderace just has the Greninja syndrome of being the favourite and getting all the good stuff and the god tier HA. Poor Chesnaught and Delphox never stood a chance against Greninja's hype machine. Chesnaught is pretty solid though, just not amazing.

What are you talking about? Incineroar is crucial for a healthy meta. He comes out on top whenever a certain pokemon gets out of hand, or new moves and pokemon cause the new toy syndrome to sweep the meta, before rounding them all up and keeping them in line.

You saw it in the VGC statistics. Grassy Surge Rillaboom and Grassy Glide came out, which was good for Rillaboom at first due to being neglected, but it became infectiously rampant and Incineroar had to put an end to it.

Cinderace is the only snowflake one due to it being shilled the hardest, getting a unique normal-dynamax animation, having two signature moves that are both busted as fuck (one is Flare Blitz without the Recoil and the other swaps all field effects with a mechanic completely exclusive to it), has Protean except without any logical explanation for it being able to do that, has a retardedly huge movepool (Rillaboom lacks any way to fight birds and Inteleon is your average generic mono water type), it's broken as hell with Dynamax and it's shoved in your face fucking everywhere.

The other two were mediocre, I'm confident Rillaboom getting his tools was just out of absent-mindedness since they hate Grookey so much they fucking passed him over in Pokemon Cafe for god damn Dragonite

Scorbunny was introduced in Pokemon Cafe first, skipping over Grookey to push the bunny because he's the shillmon of the gen. The next even mon was Sobble.

Then the third one was fucking DRAGONITE, with Grookey being nowhere still. Yes, really.

Gorilla's whole schtick is that it's a peaceful creature who values harmony and only fights ferociously when it's tribe is in danger. Gorilla Tactics doesn't fit it at all.

Inteleon is by far and away more popular than Rillaboom though. At least Delphox was completely dwarfed by Greninja and Primarina is the least popular of the trio, but Inteleon was only a few thousand votes and 4 spots behind Cinderace on the POTY poll while Rillaboom struggled to even make it in the Top 30.

I assumed you just looked at the word "Gorilla" and went HEY IT'S A GORILLA SO IT FITS! It's ok though, they didn't give it to an actual Gorilla either (Darmanitan is an Orangutan).

Grassy Surge fits Rillaboom because it's powers revolve around controlling nature with it's drum and it's a supportive ability that also helps it's allies (which fits more with it's behavior). It just wasn't broken with it until GF made a move that's one good in that specific terrain.

It doesn't. That's just an alternate attack animation. Inteleon has one too, but Rillaboom doesn't. If you mean the unique camera angle, then Inteleon and Rillaboom get that too, along with their GMaxes.

The Japanese name for Gorilla Tactics is a pun on "gorilla", "obsessed", and "lost in a fog".
Other languages emphasize the "obsessed" part.
The idea is that the mon is single-minded and concentrating really hard on using a single move.

Both Cinderace and Inteleon have 5 attack animations. Two for physical attacks, two for special attacks, and one for their signature attack. Rillaboom only has three. One for physical, one for special, one for signature.

Huh, I've only seen Innteleon's elbow and knee physical attack and finger point and snipe shot animations, I've never seen the other two. Tried looking for it on youtube but couldn't find anything there, what do they (and Cinderace's) look like?

Late AGAIN, but let me describe them
Inteleon has one where it face upwards and roars (used for Dynamax) and one where it points and shoots (special), and it also has two where it does a tail swipe and one the elbow knee combo (physical)
Cinderace has one where it does a short hop forward and poses (seen when using protect) and one where it hunches over and roars (seen during Dynamax), and it has one where it does a lunging kick (using things like Sucker Punch).
I was mistaken again, and Cinderace doesn't seem to have a 5th animation. Which means, surprisingly Inteleon has the most animations of all of the Galar starters
