Venusaur was actually out of range of even a banded sucker punch.
It only killed because the Urshifu was adamant, which is a very uncommon set.
So if he Giga Drained there and he was Jolly it was GG.

Why doesn't eo forfeit once he sees roost on zard? Its inevitable he either gets pp stalled or zard will be able to come in safely without sun up. Pretty obvious at that point that ima wasnt gonna get impatient and choke away the game.

That was an aggressive prediction on both their parts.
Eo wanted to get in Urshifu on the predicted switch to Torkoal to claim a kill.
Ima made the even more aggressive play on calling that double and killing the Urshifu.

If urshifu doubles in on torkoal then kommo can just sack to it, urshifu will be choice locked, and zard will claim 1 back, which either means urshifu dying anyway only killing kommo which does nothing in the grand scheme of things, or the loss of gastro/clef which is instant loss.

Kommo doesn't really accomplish much in that game state anyway, which is why ima was so willing to give it up into clef for the predict. Its not even a super aggressive play on ima's part, the play is smart, low risk, and high reward.

If Eo had managed to KO Torkoal, Ima wouldn't be able to clear pebbles anymore and Charizard wouldn't be able to get in.
Charizard was Ima's wincon, so getting rid of Torkoal would've given Eo a real chance at winning.

Not better, not more balanced, not a more accurate test of skill. 3v3 and 4v4 could be those things, but none of those contributed to GF's decision to focus on them.
They're just over faster, and that's better specifically in a tournament setting where players are having dozens of battles in a single day.

Zard doesn't run grass because its too situational.

Weather Ball does around twice the damage of Solar Beam for a neutral hit. It's only barely weaker when WB is NVE or SB is SE, and the differences only become obvious if SB's effectiveness modifier is 4x better than WB's.
Charizard is already a niche pick. Solarbeam is a niche move on a niche pick.

There's nothing inherently wrong with this because it's just two players playing a mentally taxing match against each other taking safe prods against one another and playing every turn safely, but it really speaks to the imbalance of the game where matches can either be one sided momentum based sweeps or glacial paced.

It's objectively boring.
6v6 singles can never be the official format because nobody would want to watch 2 players try to outwit each other and play mind games while trying to safely maneuver around suspected sets, identify wincons, control the state of the field, and make smart plays to get a victory.
4v4 doubles is much better and more soulful because there's more Pokemon on the field and victory can hinge on a double protect. And that's not even getting into how exciting Dynamax is.

This, but unironically. I enjoy both smogon and vgc, but VGC while I play it less, is much more fun to watch. Generally if I watch smogon stuff it will be team/metagame analysis or tournament replay analysis videos, but not regular showdown lives which are dull. VGC I find watchable without any deep commentary, and I just enjoy wolfey/cybertron play ladder games.

I wasnt talking about stall as a playstyle, OPs match certainly didnt feature stall teams on either side but still dragged for 200+ turns due to both sides spamming low risk, high reward braindead plays for the better part of the game. Its an issue that is specifically unique to 6v6 singles format.
