can you name a romhack that meets all three of these criteria:
1) is genuinely challenging without self-imposed bullshit
2) has a passable/good story (no edgy shit for teens)
3) has new pokemon

Story I think is maybe the hardest. It will dictate a lot of the effort of making the game unless it's just rehashing events. It's also the only thing that can really differentiate the game from the series games. Your writer/devs need to have taste of what is good, what is hacky, what is pandering, what to push and what to peel back, etc. The pool for a talented writer who also wants to help world build an entire fan game who can convey it appropriately for free none the less is very slim pickings.
