The only new pokemon of gen 8 who learn moonblast are 2 pokemon that don't need it.. Zamazenta and Zacian. I wish Hatterene and Alcremie got it.

Not all early route mons are shitty though, every game has a few before the first gym that are pretty good for in game teams.
>kanto: pidgey, nidorans, possibly mankey
>johto: zubat, pidgey, gastly, geodude, teddiursa, belsprout, HGSS mareep
>hoenn: ralts, lotad, seedot, surskit, slakoth, shroomish, whismur
>sinnoh: budew, starly, shinx, zubat, geodude, machop, ponyta
>unova BW1: lillipup (okay yeah BW1 unova was pretty rough)
>unova BW2: venipede, sewaddle, mareep, riolu
And of course kalos, alola, and galar have wide varieties of viable early route mons.

the only thing that could justify the continued implementation of the dexcut is if the next generation uses a drastically different engine and graphical style from Gen 8. If its anything like the jump from 6 to 7 porting all of the pokemon over is too piss easy for the culling to make much sense.
And it's not like they can't just go back on the dex cut and be like "we decided to listen to the fans and add back all of the pokemon" and use that for journalist brownie points. They already added a big chunk of the dex back as of DLC.

Making so many Gen I Pokemon Poison-type or part Poison, including the only Ghost types and nearly all the Grass types. Literally around half of all Poison types are from Gen I alone. I still don't get why they did that.

The real crime is that Zamazenta can't learn Body Press despite it both being STAB and synergizing well with Dauntless Shield. The fact that its only good Fighting move is a move that works against its ability and defensive nature is horse shit. Zacian would still be better 100% of the time, but at least Zamazenta would have some sort of niche.

Making some starters shitmons, like Decidueye, you take one of the coolest, most liked designs for a starter and give it: shit ability, horrible stats and coverage, then you make a Pokémon with the same typing in the same gen, giving it a 3rd stab because fuck you, and here you have it…

Better options for a fitting ability? I'd have plenty: Levitate, Gale wings, Chlorophyll, Defiant, Flying type steelworker, Shadow tag

Maybe make his speed usable or at least give it leech seed to profit off it's bulk

Bringing back the same Pokemon for regional dexes all the time (Machop, Abra, Gastly, Wingull, fucking GOLDEEN that nobody uses) yet having loads of Pokemon that appear only in their original region or one other region (Venomoth, Eelektross, Cacturne, Breloom, Zebstrika) and don't come back. Most of those are just the obligatory Kanto mons. But in the case of Wingull I think it's just because there aren't any other sea-bird Pokemon to put on beaches and shit. I'd love to see some Puffin or Albatross Pokemon but every time they try to, people bitch about it being a 'knockoff' of an old pokemon

My point is they shouldn't be "obigatory". There's other non-Kanto ones as well - Trapinch is in nearly every region since Hoenn too, while Lucario is in every region since Sinnoh.

moonblast is given to mons with moon affinity. Clefable came from the moon and Muk is made from moonbeams.
psychic types and witches only get dazzling gleam, which in jap is "Magical Shine". it's a magic move, that's why Alakazam, Mismagius and Hatterene use it.

Its coverage is fine (Leaf Blade, Poltergeist/Spirit Shackle, Brave Bird, Sucker Punch etc) the problem is entirely with the stat spread, absurdly useless ability and somewhat lacking support movepool (no Leech Seed, no Will O Wisp...). Fixing any two of these would make it so much better.
