I used this tool during my Gold playthrough to yoink a Heracross, I highly recommend it. bug types are dope, but they are a little weak in the early game. good luck, anon

It's a good selection.
Having done gen 2 bug mono once, heracross is your obvious best mon and mvp, ariados and shuckle are great for spreading status, forretress walls nearly the entire game, Ledian is actually super helpful for late game bosses thanks to screens (it's literally the only real way to beat red itemless on set without overlevelling), and Yanma is sadly....there, but hey, full gen 2 bug team
Spinarak and ledyba are available super early, too

I must have lucked out, I got Heracross in Azalea town in Crystal. He was asleep when he fell out of the tree, which is kind of a funny mental image when you consider that he went to sleep in the tree as per usual and woke up on some kid’s Pokémon team.

Heracross is great. Forretress is good, but you'll probably want to breed Pin Missile on it. Ariados is just okay, really frail. Don't even bother with the rest

Forretress is great in competitive, not so much in-game. Too slow. Heracross is the best Karen counter in the game, which is relevant for those who rely on Psychic + 3 elemental punches Kadabra to carry them through the game.
