XY appreciation thread?
GF successfully transitioned to 3D with detailed models that push the hardware while delivering the best online interface, the biggest region, and the best gameplay (competitive) of any games in the series up to that point. several really good balance tweaks to the overall engine (nerfing Drizzle and Drought was an A+ idea), and mega evolution was a pretty great subsystem for a lot of reasons. I have various complaints about SM/USUM, not that they were bad just not as good, but X and Y themselves seem to me to be a clear high point in the franchise. Only surpassed by SwSh.
