pokemon have movesets other than the default/automatic ones assigned due to level up
higher level pokemon for some trainers
no missingno glitch means less likely to just breeze through the game until missingno then cheat the rest
able to obtain the 3 starters in-game
modest amount of colors for a gameboy game
safari zone oversight is fixed (though you probably would never encounter this problem anyway)
better pokemon distribution
higher level trainer battles in some cases
overall, more difficult but the same general experience
if you want to play gen 1, i'd say play yellow unless you want to play RB for nostalgia.
