>>44497119I wonder if by having a more innately fantastical Pokemon as the mascot (Pikachu more so being an animal with supernatural abilities whereas Clefairy is an amorphous creature with fairy-like qualities) that the series would've also had a more fantastical tone. Like we know stuff like Telekinesis, Ghosts (not the type, I mean spirits) and Resurrection all exist in Pokemon but they're pretty subdued in the later generations with the whole ghostly spirits being relegated to stuff like the XY Hex Maniac and Odd House in B2W2 and Resurrection not really being a thing used by the series after Gen II.
