Literally just a visual indicator that a pokemon has been dyna/gigantamaxed, as if the slower animations, deafening cries, and flashy battle effects weren't indication enough. It's in all the official art for giga forms too, presumably to distinguish them from mega-evos. That's likely the only reason for them.

Well yeah, Gigantimax seems to focus on one particular aspect of the pokemon and emphasize it. As Venasaur has a flower, that would be the focus. I would have expected this with any flower-pokemon.

One has 2 more flowers that are overly cartoony and don’t fit in with the complexity of the other flower at all. The other has a bigger flower that covers the entire design. Honestly I can’t believe they couldn’t design a mega flygon because of artists block but venisaur received 2 subpar redesigns
