See there's more to it than just two people working on a design - it's two people working on it, while another 5-6 tell them what needs to be changed, what does and doesn't work and provide other feedback, all while being held to a set of design rules for the creation of the design. It's why every pokémon looks like it belongs in the universe, while every fakemon immediately sticks out like a sore thumb, because the artist doesn't consider Pokémon's style to be worth copying, when in actuality, it's the ONLY style worth copying.
