And it's only plot relevant in like few of those episodes.

And even in the above, the first and the last don't take more than a few seconds.

In all other episodes it comes up it's mostly as a gag (Shauna or Bonnie poking fun at it for example) or, most of the time, doesn't come up at all.

When you see someone saying "Serena is only about her crush" it's a clue the person never saw XY.

It's supposed to be a sign of strengthened resolve. Before she cut her hair she never put her heart into anything and gave up everything she tried at the first sign of difficulty or loss.

Korea cut her hair because it cost too much for her to be animated with a complex hair design and complex outfit so I think by season 3 they simplified her design to cut costs and time. Korea is kind of a shit show though. ATLA was good but LOK was absolutely not
