Not really, the football focus would lead to a moveset as bland as the Chus or Charizard. Inteleon's probably the best choice for a playable given the secret agent and bag-o-tricks motifs.

Which is irrelevant, because it holds items in its mouth just like Pikachu and Pichu. Logically any other quadruped can just do the exact same thing.

Rillaboom could work as a ranged heavy, which would be a really fun playstyle. He already uses the dtum in SwSh, so he could hit the drum to make sound waves, use his nature powers to grow vines, hit people with the drum and drumsticks, and even throw the drum with a risk of losing it like K-rool's crown attack.

Can we, for once, not get a shit mon as a rep?
Aside from the mascot and maybe, maybe Mewtwo there's basically nothing.
The fucking frog and the two furry baits are some of the worst additions, despite there being a dozen swords to choose from for that kind of position.
At least Jiggly is interesting, even though it's inferior to its evolution.

And for those wondering, the legends and starters are all shit.
I'd definitely like to see something that isn't just some punch dude, but then it might turn into another fury bait too.
I guess that's too limiting for anybody being paid to grasp though.

Man, Smash's Pokemon roster is really boring.
I wish they'd go for something completely off-the-wall, like Corviknight or something.
There's no reason we can get something crazy like Piranha Plant but still have to settle for some bipedal Pokemon with a generic moveset.

Dracovish and Corvinight can't hold an items like the Rage Blaster or Super Scope and have it look natural.
That's what blocks most Pokemon really, they have to look natural holding and using items while also being able to move. Has Ivysaur not has its vines it wouldn't be on the roster at all.

Thing is, you can still make do with a bipedal pokemon and have it be fun. Imagine Greedent - a small heavy slamming things with its tail like a hammer and grabbing with the same tail. Mr. Rime/Mime could use mime magic and beautiful ice attacks for some snazzy bullshit. Even Grimmsnarl could be Corrin done right.

I have played the game and the Pokemon are some of the most boring, outside of Trainer of course. Pichu's alright and I used to love Pikachu but a lot of small subtle changes (+ new NAir) really threw my opinion of it out the window.

If anything, this benefits Rillaboom's chances since DLC fighters tend to recycle moves from other fighters as much as possible with a gimmick slapped on top.

Lots of pokemon don't really fit with cartoon anthropomorphism, usually those that do tend to be shown capable of standing up. For instance you can't really see Entei carrying a gun.

Even if it's from KANTOOOOO, Jigglypuff is probably the most off-the-wall Pokemon character in the game. It's not exactly popular aside from a running gag in the anime. I wish they had this initiative with the other gens
