The last game I played was BW2, and Charizard wasn't shilled at all like today. It didn't even get that much attention during FRLG.

I have the same attitude toward Optimus Prime.
I grew up in the '90s with the Beast Wars TV show, which was 1000% better than the crappy G1 Transformers.
Yet, there's almost no nostalgia for Beast Wars while Prime made it onto the Hollywood Walk of Fame after The Last Knight
It's all marketing, I think parents brainwash their kids into liking what they like, so braindead genwunners get their zoomer kids to sperg over Charizard
