people took a line out of context to believe that oleana grew up poor with a trubbish as her only friend, then rose saved her from the gutter which is why she's so devoted to him and uses glamorous pokemon but still has Garbodor as her ace.

They have to, because Black and White the games were a much better experience than the Black and White anime so series parity was more encouraged from X/Y and Sun/Moon.

Oddly enough, even though PM2019 uses Galar for some episode plots, it's actually better off not staying there as a setpiece. Reset buttoning Ash and sending him on another Badge Quest felt more like a throttle after a while anyway.

I still feel like Oleana having a Garbodor is mostly to show a bit of how she sees herself. Like she sees herself as undesirable, like how people see Garbodor. But she also sees herself as a proper woman now, so she's gotta be pretty, but tries so hard especially because she's still feeling a bit undesirable in some way and needs to try hard to prove her worth. I only think that since i've gone through the same and fell in love with some undesirables that way myself. I wouldn't be surprised if it was right or wrong though, but given how surprisingly bluntly human the gen 8 characters are...

But none of that is communicated through the OP pic. It's just Oleana with her Pokemon that she canonically has. Literally nobody mentioned this headcanon except for the ones complaining about it .
