When I was first starting out in Pokemon Black, I was grinding some of my pokemons levels somewhere early in the game, and I encountered a Shiny Purrloin. I went ahead and caught it even though I had no interest in it, just because it was a shiny. The first time it happened was in Pokemon Gold. Right after the clip of the legendary dogs running away from the tower, I encountered a Shiny Onix. So random, especially since I hadn't even encountered a Onix up until that point. I wish they made the way to get shinies and hidden abilities more consistent and less luck based. I'd do something like, if when breeding two pokemon and the female has all perfect IVs even if done through bottle caps, level 100, and two perfect EV stats, it has a 50% chance of the egg having its hidden ability at birth, and if both are like this it gives you a 50% chance of the baby being shiny. It sucks that you can grind things seemingly forever, and still have to be lucky.
