The first few Kalos Gyms were actually based, there was such a long gap between the first and second, with a ton of routes and lots of variety in the Pokemon you find. Just wandering around catching everything I see was some of the most fun I've had in Pokemon in a while.

Then all the pacing just went to shit and the rest of the game felt like a boss-rush

ngl their teams kinda sucked and not all really fitted their characters so much. Also Korrina onwards should've used Megas, either as a Gen VI ace or a prior gen Pokemon which would serve as their Lancer.
