>>4452887233 year old RBYoomer here. X&Y have been, by far, the best pokemon experiences I've had to date.
I liked the story, I loved the music, and was so impressed with how the feel of the game had changed since the previous gen. The storyline was enjoyable and I wasn't as bothered by the interruptions of the friendship group, it gave the world of the game a lighter touch. The tone and feel of the game felt like I could be a character in the tv show and not just another jrpg.
But the online system blew everything out of the water. The PSS was so much fun. It would be nice just walking around the game and seeing trainer's speech bubbles pop up looking for battles and trades, knowing that I could accept at any moment.
It also had:
>regional pokemon that increased breeding shiny chances. Plus they kept their original names which was cool. >regional Virillion patterns to collect. >shiny hunting in those friend-garden places (cannot remember the name). >best breeding system by far. It was really fun to watch eggs before flying off to have the IVs rated, anticipating the excitement you'd get once you had the IVs you needed. >massively increased shiny chance. It gave me the incentive to play bicycle simulator a few times and I have legit perfect IV shinies with hidden abilities and egg moves that I had bred myself. I felt like a master. >really fun competitive online play. >huge followings on /vp/ and reddit. There was always someone willing to trade or help out with something. >meeting people online to do the trainer value trades to get shiny pokemon. >hex maniac Easter egg which is the best wtf to this day. >mega evolution made battles a lot more interesting. It would have been great to have a greater variety of megas, but I found it fun anyway. TL:DR RBYoomer likes something that most of the board hates and I'm waiting to be called a coFAGrigus.
