I mean you could ask the same thing of a lot of grass type Pokémon. Cherubi, Bounsweet, Steenee, & Exeggcute all come to mind.

Most of those are the "larval" states and become stronger later, or they can perform photosynthesis. Appletun doesn't look like it can use photosynthesis, and its less than two feet tall.

The Bounsweet line actually has some lore about how it survives being preyed upon specifically because it's so tasty. So that's a pretty bad example.

To be fair, Appletun also literally vomits out gallons of acid on people who annoy it (Apple Acid also has a 100% chance to lower sp.def) and has bundles of edible yet easily detachable skin on it's back that it could shed if grabbed by to run away while a predator eats it.

Bounsweet’s Pokedex entries talk about how they often get swallowed whole by other Pokémon and how when it’s trying to signal for help most other Pokémon just think it’s having fun and do do anything. They’re frequently killed off for being too tasty.
