>>44532347If I were to make a fangame something I would do is dramatically lower the general amount of trainers in each area, as well as space them out much more, but increase the average amount of pokemon they have to 3-5 instead of 1 or 2. This way you ultimately get the same amount of exp but are interrupted far less, giving you time to focus on exploring uninterrupted, and it also makes the times you do get interupted more worth your while by making the fights at least semi challenging (The teams would generally feature a decent variety of pokemon that still fit the trainer class and maybe mild use of held items like berries).
The whole thing would just be much MUCH less tedious and just so much better as a whole, I actually can't believe gamefreak doesn't do it this way yet.
Also, while they're at it, make wild double battles significantly more common, like make around a third or even half of all wild encounters double battles, and give wild pokemon better AI, a much higher chance of holding items that could potentially be useful, and make running away harder, like you have to damage them to give yourself a decent chance otherwise you're likely to waste a turn by trying run away. As they are, wild battles are some of the most bullshit things in the whole franchise, it's basically only ever an interruption because you can always run or one shot them. Literally 0 risk and reward system going on, despite the games often treating wild battles like an actual risk
