The menu system is much better and items are more sorted, like how Pokeballs are their own tab now. I can actually see which item a Pokemon has equipped at a glance via its icon. I can now check a move's stats during battle without the stat info bar blocking most of the screen. I like playing on a home console better, since I have bad eyesight so being able to view a TV size display is a huge plus to me. Being able to see what Pokemon are in the grass is also helpful when looking for or to avoid certain ones. I like overworld Pokemon too. The Wild Area is a great concept that I hope gets improved and brought back in gen 9. The Rotomi is very efficient compared to the old system. I like the character's designs and concepts. It was pretty cool seeing a Pokemon version of the UK.

I don't think the story was bad. I just wish I could've had the option to get involved with the Eternatus plot sooner. And all the team members were just generic NPCs. It would've been cool if Marnie had some super fans with unique names, personalities, and designs.

I really hope CT gives more focus to the gym leaders and your rivals during the doubles tournament.

hop is legit my new favorite rival in the series, if not my new favorite character overall. he was such a lovable and endearing character and rival and his story arc really resonated with me, i hope we get to see him as a full-fledged professor someday

I partially agree. The wild and trainer battle themes in particular have good melodies in theory, but the mixing and instrumentation is just shit. The gym theme is just a 30 second techno loop. A good one, but still. Most of the town themes (especially Stow-on-side and Ballonlea) are perfect, though.

I liked how all the stadiums were full of actual crowds. Treating gym leaders and up and coming trainers as celebrities was really cool. I wish they'd actually gone even more into it, like have you attend a marketing event and sign autographs.

The thing is, gen 8 already leaned pretty heavily into Pokemon as a pro sport, so I don't know if another gen could take that even farther or not.

I don't see why people are so hung up on this. It would bound to happen at some point considering the number of Pokemon increases each gen and is already in the hundreds.

You have a better variety of Pokemon that you could catch at various points in your journey. Monotype runs are generally more viable than normal because of this, even though newer Pokemon still aren't very available until further in.
