Gengar suffers from Snivy syndrome in that Psychic is just as much as of a deus ex machina move as Attract. In order for Gengar to lose, it has to either not use Psychic, or use it in a dumb way. Like in Korrina battle where it uses Psychic to lift a rock to throw at Mienshao instead of just using it on Mienshao itself.
