>>44551298Well, it needs to actually do all the things the other games do, but better. Get rid of that stupid idea of making each generation "unique" by removing features from the games (this means VS Seekeer, this means lots of character customization, this means alternative battle modes, etc)
The second thing is the battle presentation. Mainline Pokemon games are pretty bad with their slow textboxes that never end and bars that fill up or empty up slowly. Plus all the animation jank in SS. You need presentation at least as good as Battle Revolution.
The third thing are the Pokemon themselves. People play Pokemon for the Pokemon, so focus on it all the way. Give us more ways of interacting with our Pokemon. GF seems to really struggle with this, they just implement Nintendogs knockoffs and think it's good enough, it isn't. Like petting and grooming and feeding are good, you probably will want to play with them too, you could have idk minigames and shit. People harp on about walking Pokemon, but that's because they want to be able to do stuff with their Pokemon. Expand the fuck up of the pokeride system from Let's Go, let each Pokemon have more than one interaction with the world. You could also have like races and stuff (tying back into stuff to do with your Pokemon). Something like contests could come back too.
The last two things tie back into the last one. Tone the fuck down of the human characters (specifically the professor, the villain and the rivals. They have been getting more and more cutscenes and screentime, but they aren't getting any better). Pokemon are the stars of the show. GF wants to give the Gym leaders more personality, that's fine. Something you could do is have certain NPCs (Gym leaders, certain shop owners, etc) have their own series of miniquests that you can advance along the game. Giving you reason to go back to places you have been before, giving them characterization, etc.
