You know that the main difference between remakes and third versions (other than the former obviously making more money) is that third versions are limited to their own generation. GF has a window of only 3 years to release a third version. If they have better plans for those three years, like they did in Gen 5, 6 and 8, then they'll simply skip the third version, release something else (sequels, remakes, DLC, etc.) and that's it. That third version will never ever exist.
Meanwhile, remakes can be released literally any time they want. They thought it was a better idea to release LGPE in 2018 to ride the success of GO? Then fine, let's postpone the DP remakes. They thought it was a better idea to release Gen 9 in 2021 to commemorate the 25th anniversary? Then let's postpone the DP remakes once again. However, at some point it WILL happen, because why the fuck not? They can release it whenever they seem fit, unlike third versions.
