Alola's main problems are a lack of speed, and a strange pattern of single-stage pokemon being hidden in the most random places. Passimian, Oranguru, Drampa, Turtonator, and Dhelmise are all either version exclusives or available after Poni Island, and Drampa is both.

This. It's weird how there are some super OU pokemon from Gen II like Blissey and TTar (I know he isn't OU in SwSh) and Skarmory. Then we have the absolute trash like Magcargo, Ledian and Deliberd and Smeargle who is bad in-game.

That's all by the second badge. Hoenn had probably the fewest shit mons of the generation, to say nothing of the late game stuff like Salamence and Metagross, or how broken Groudon/Kyogre were even for Ubers. Johto is where you look at for shitmon central, where 90% of the competitive viability was slapped onto T-tar.

Didn't exist. Closest we had was JAA which was Ubersfest featuring Smeargle, with Jynx and Zam for niche roles
And zoomers wouldn't know this but the gap between UU, BL, and OU was negligible back then (like Suicune was better than Blastoise or Milotic, but Blastoise/Milotic would still have niche purposes and still serve well as bulky waters). It's only when you get to NU that you would have to consider something else because it would be totally outclassed in the role by another mon

I was talking about them in the gen they came out in, hence the OP comparing how useful they are in-game vs multiplayer. I mean, the complaint's fair for ORAS since it's subject to three more gens of powercreep, but then it's your fault for playing ORAS.
