trying to get into showdown
people are telling me that bulky offensive is the way to go? but the rest are saying stall.
is the stall the same as bulk?

Bulky offense means they can take hits and dish them out. Stall is taking hits and using status to wittle the enemy down. Also includes some breakers from time to time.

They're somewhat similar.
If you want stall you can run 5 defensive mons and 1 attacker. You spend about 20-30 mins per game switching and forcing switches and mainly win games through people quitting through sheer time consuming autism.

Bulky offensive is either 3-4 stall mons and then 2 offensive ones, or 3 stall mons and then some bulky and usually slow offensive types.

Pick your poison and enjoy the slow game.

You're thinking of fat balance. Bulky offense is offensive mons that also have high defense. Tanks, as opposed to walls.

Bulky Offense is those Rotom Wash+AV Magearna teams from Gen 7 that tank hits and grab momentum to bring in scary wall breakers like Mega Medicham and Hoopa U.
Gen 8 doesn't really have anything like that which is why everyone uses stall, balance, or hyper offense.
