How do you hope/fear they'll change it? DP didn't have much of a story but I'm certain gamefreak will find a way to still fuck it up. Ideally, with the recent focus on Cyrus and Cynthia as 'rivals' in pokemon masters, I think this could be a pretty good route for the remake story.

>Cyrus was an awkward, geeky, simp who crushed on Cynthia because she was the light in his otherwise bleak life
>Cynthia feigned confidence and success but in reality she was a lazy albeit talented cunt who'd fool others into doing shit for her
>Cynthia would regularly make Cyrus do her homework or steal any battle strats he came up with but Cyrus never realized he was being taken advantage of
>eventually, the two decide to go on a journey to challenge the pokemon league
>during the journey, as they're going through Mt.coronet, Cyrus makes a huge discovery
>he finds an ancient temple dedicated to the sinnoh deities
>a finding which might've finally turned his life around
>however, as usual Cynthia takes credit for discovering said ruins, which kickstarts her archeology career
>this betrayal by Cynthia pushes Cyrus over the edge, turning him into the man we know during the events of the games
>in the present, Cynthia finds out about Team galactic and Cyrus
>she is able to recognize the consequences of her selfish actions and that she needs to eliminate the monster she helped create
>she eventually succeeds, but at the cost of her own life as she drags Cyrus down into the distortion world
>depending on the version, Flint or Volkner replace her as champion
>a simulation of her can be battled in the post game
Yeah yeah I know theres too much focus on the side characters but it's hard to make a silent protagonist even remotely compelling in an RPG.
