It's just that for me gen 7 truly was the biggest disappointment I've ever had with the games, yes, more than SwSh by a mile. I wanted to like these games, I remember during leak season I loved everything being shown and couldn't wait to try them, I even went as far as thinking they'd be my new favorites, but holy shit, how wrong I was. I truly despised everything, the gameplay, the characters, the music, the story, the way trials were handled, etc. It was the first time I dropped a Pokemon game halfway and it took me a whole year to pick it up and try to finish them.. and I couldn't. Another year went by and I finally did it, and I hated every second of it. Later on I tried UM thinking that maybe these were the games I was looking for all along and no, it was even worse. I didn't enjoy a single second playing these games, and trust me I wanted to. I know it's subjective, I know this is just my experience, but I just felt the need to point out that when I say I dislike gen 7 I don't do it just because "muh 3D, muh downhill", I really do mean it.
