you must mean the first one.
I wasn't old enough for the release, but my sister let me play her copy of pokemon when gen 2 dropped.
the first remake is still the superior kanto experience to this day, although I still feel uncomfortable having "kanto" and "superior" in the same sentense.

i came to this universe because apparently gamefreak didn't quit pokemon after pkmn color-x. I wanted to see what gen 8 was like. very disappointed.
