It was, but then it backpedaled. Shame that the anime that came after was garbage compared to D/P. Thought for sure the deeper plot of BW meant an amazing anime to top even the above... really missed opportunity.

they literally had no idea what to do with the BW anime. They rushed everything in less than 100 episodes, did sinnoh fan service to appease viewers and shilled the shit out of kalos to hurry and prompt the kalos anime. I've never seen pokemon anime try to hurry up and finish up an anime before like that.

This battle was good but had so many faults:

>Paul only used one pokemon from the sinnoh team he crushed ash with at the lake battle, making it feel like a hollow victory
>Only 2 of paul's six pokemon even got any faints (Drapion 3 and Electivire 2)
>Infernape got 3 of ash's ko's for no valid reason
>Torterra got shafted AGAIN with a 60 second cameo where he did basically nothing.

And to finish up, after this they put ash against the darkrai trainer because they couldn't seem to come up with any other valid way in which he could lose

To be fair the battle is less about the actual Pokémon themselves (except Electivire) and more about the ideologies.
