Hate to say it but they need to wipe the pokedex and get rid of a lot of bloat.
We don't need so many pika clones, generic bugs, birds, etc. The typical add on every gen gets.
There are a lot of pokemon that are just bad in concept, design, battle, etc.
I don't even think we need this many legendaries (at least dragons) and trios. I wouldn't complain if they re-used older ones bec I don't use legendaries in the first place. Most people would probably disagree here, though.
Regional variants of older pokemon is a great idea.
A few new additions every gen is good, but it doesn't have to fulfill the same amount each gen. I'd rather have 20 well designed pokemon than 150+ more uncreative crap.
They need to stop making things so easy. Bring back a little bit of challenge, or at least an arrogant rival that's actually competent.
Overall: trim the fat so there's less crap the devs have to shit out each gen and work around what's left. Make the games actually fun and challenging again and less hand-holding.
Music and waifus are fine.
