The whole point of Paras(sect) is that the fungus on its back is slowly taking control of its mind. Paras's mushrooms are literally a part of its biology at this point, where as applin is just a dude in a fruit.

You could definitely argue that Paras should be pure Bug and only gain Grass-type after evolving when the mushroom takes control. GF is pretty inconsistent about when a Pokemon should gain a type or start with it. e.g. what makes Swablu and Trapinch less of a dragon than Noibat, Goomy, or Applin? Or how is Dewgong "more Ice" than Seel?

You could make the case that the fungus on Paras's back has become a thing that Paras pass down when breeding though like some parasites do. You cant make that case for Applin, Kangaskhan or Timburr though.

There are actually some animals born pregnant. Aphids and some wasps. Though since the joey never grows up I prefer to headcanon Kangaskhan as a weird "multiple creature" entity like Exeggcute, Binacle, Falinks, etc. and people thinking of it as a mother/baby duo is just folklore.
