I'll start off with my bro. Kinda skimmed over gen 5 in general. But I really like his design and the lore that he can shoot lasers apparently.

I thought it was just some generic kaiju thing, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but there are better kaijumons out there, but it's lore about tending to forests and gardening made me love it

Didn't really give this bug much thought at all, but I did a Emerald Nuzlocke a while back, and I was surprised by how useful it actually was. mind you it only became useful by the time I taught it Aerial Ace but still. It survived all the way to the Champion, and I had a lot of fun using it. Plus I love cicadas, so it's cool to have a mon based on one

I disliked the Ultra Beasts at first, but I eventually gew to like all of them except Pheromosa a lot. Blacephalon grew on me the most.

I was complete Totodile-fanboy playing Gold and thought Cyndaquil was cool too, but I never gave Chikorita even the slightest bit of thought. Yet as the years have passed, the line has somehow crept up to be my favorite of the Johto starters.

Much better. Nothing about Salamence says its particularly powerful. The thing is short and its shtick is that it can fly.

I didn't think much about this thing when I slapped it on my team but for some reason I kept using it. And it kept impressing me. There's no way that every other early game butterflymon is completely outclassed by this absolute monster hellbent on destruction. Also I managed to collect them all.

Funnily enough Salamence (or Bagon more specifically) is another that grew on me over time.

I remember disliking this lad for a lot of time,but after using it on my BW2 playthrough i started to like it more and more.

Same story here with kartana. I think the thing about ultra beast is that they feel a lot better to play with than they look visually. And you start to eventually appreciate the different design.

Oh yeah. Bagon's definitely awesome too. I just feel we have too many Dragon-Psuedos, and that Aggron being a Psuedo would make it feel more like a rival to T-Tar.

I originally misinterpreted its design as a ^_^ face so I just dismissed it as a dumb emoticon and waste of its concept since a snowflake could've been Spinda 2.0. Then I realized it's a scowling face plus its lore is that it's a carnivore and the idea of a carnivorous snowflake is cool. It also ended up being the star of my in-game Black team.

Kartana similarly was something I dismissed as a waste of a concept (we already have objectmons as regular Pokemon so why waste the concept of aliens on origami?) but then I saw its animations and how tiny and flat it actually was (I originally interpreted the design as a metal humanoid thing that merely resembled origami). And the cootie catcher mouth completely sold me on the design. Plus it's probably the closest we have to a 2D Pokemon so that's pretty cool.
