If Game Freak is gonna remake GS again, they should have it take place ENTIRELY in Johto, with no Kanto postgame
Obviously, I wouldn't want Game Freak in it's current gimmickfetish incompetent state making any kind of games. Once GF gets over their gimmick fetish and starts balancing the game better and more regularly than they currently do, then they can make whatever games they want
Johto without Kanto would be a pretty small region, so Game Freak would need to bring back the new areas added in HGSS + make new areas to expand the size and content of the region
Game Freak would also need to make the game last long enough to justify it taking place entirely in one region. They could maybe add more than 8 gyms or some shit
Johto could also do with more Pokemon variety, and Pokemon already in the previous games being easier and earlier to find. Pokemon from newer games could retroactively be added to Johto, some of them maybe also having Johtoan forms
Most importantly, no gimmicks. Which means no Megas, no Z-Moves, Dynamax, ect. Gimmicks have ruined the games and the franchise as a whole, and they all need to die for this series not to go to complete shit
